01 - Clean the Track

Quick & Easy Fixes for Your Sliding Door

Problem: If your sliding door is hard to open or close, the track might be dirty or clogged.

Solution:

  • Tools Needed: Vacuum cleaner, soft brush, and damp cloth.

  • Instructions:

    1. Open the door fully.

    2. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dirt and debris from the track.

    3. Use a soft brush to loosen any stuck dirt.

    4. Wipe down the track with a damp cloth.

02 - Lubricate the Rollers

Problem: If your door is sticking or squeaking, the rollers might be dry.

  • Tools Needed: Silicone-based lubricant (avoid oil-based).

  • Instructions:

    1. Open the door and locate the rollers on the bottom.

    2. Apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to the rollers.

    3. Move the door back and forth to evenly distribute the lubricant.

03 - Adjust the Rollers

Problem: If your door is dragging or not sitting properly, the rollers might need adjusting.

Solution:

  • Tools Needed: Screwdriver.

  • Instructions:

    1. Find the adjustment screws on the bottom or side of the door.

    2. Turn the screws clockwise to raise the door or counterclockwise to lower it.

    3. Adjust until the door slides smoothly.

04 - Check the Weatherstripping

Problem: If you feel drafts or notice increased noise, the weatherstripping might be worn or misaligned.

Solution:

  • Tools Needed: Replacement weatherstripping (if needed), scissors, and adhesive.

  • Instructions:

    1. Inspect the weatherstripping around the door.

    2. If it’s damaged or worn out, remove it carefully.

    3. Cut the new weatherstripping to size and apply it evenly along the door frame.

05 - Realign the Rollers

Problem: If your sliding door’s roller falls off the track, the door won’t slide properly or may even get stuck.

Solution:

  • Tools Needed: Screwdriver.

  • Instructions:

    1. Carefully lift the door slightly to take the weight off the rollers.

    2. Guide the roller back onto the track by gently pushing the door at the bottom.

    3. Once the roller is back on track, use the adjustment screws (from Step 3) to ensure the door is properly aligned and balanced.

    4. Test the door by sliding it back and forth to confirm it moves smoothly.

This additional step should help your customers easily fix a common problem before needing professional assistance.
